We're replacing steering wheel on sons 300 and while we're at it want to replace missing bushings in steering colomum. The upper opening is egg shaped without bushing any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of is to ream it out round and machine a bigger bushing.

You will find that the shaft is worn as well.
The key is to have the egged hole reamed out to a standard size and put a bushing in it. The bushing should extend 1/2 inch toward the steering wheel, and 1/2" farther down the shaft to touch new shaft material. Polish the shaft with 400 grit paper (roundy round, not allong the shaft) and drill the new bushing for the grease hole. Jim
