Farmall 460 Carb Problems

They other day my Farmall 460 would not start which is not like it, I determined it wasn't getting fuel, I ordered a carb kit, took the carb off put a new needle and seat in cleaned the carb and put it back on, still won't start unless I take air hose wand and stick it down into tank and blow into fuel line for a while. I'm getting good fuel into carb, need is opening and filling fuel bowl, float is not dragging and when I put my hand over end of carb when it's running it has very good suction. I'm at a loss tractor runs great once it's started but once it cools off won't start. Any ideas?

I had one that would not start easy found that a 1/4 turn on the air mix screw makes a big difference.

give some details as to what you have the main jet and mixture screws set at. have you checked the choke to make sure it is closing properly.? these are a cold blooded unit. also the electrical side has big influence on starting too. once everything is set to factory spec's they start very easy. mine would start on the second revolution with choke pulled out.

I have everything on the carb set to factory specs, choke is closing properly and it has great spark. It has always been a very easy starter, full choke and about 3 spins and away it goes.

i want to know what spec's. on everything. had people say yes its all good but in the end they where wrong. dont have eyes and hands on so need info.

Is the little air bleed disk still in the choke plate? if gone, it will act that way. If gone, you need to find it before it gets sucked into the engine. Jim

Did you clean the screen that is screwed right into the carb?
