Farmall 504 brakes

How hard is it to change out the brake discs on a 1966 504. It looks like there is very little adjustment left to play with...gonna have to change and trying to get a plan. Any tips/advice and best place to purchase discs help...is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
David

You can buy the disks here on this site about as cheap as anywhere. Caseih is expensive. If your 504 is like my 2606 there are two round brake housings with one on each side. 5 or 6 bolts and unscrew the adjuster (which you do first).

If yours is like mine, then the facings in the brake housing and around the brake shaft wear down. The only way to repair is to lay a straight edge across the top after you have cleaned up the brake expander, springs, balls, and put in new disks. Then you can come up with how many thousands to have machined off the brake housing. Probably around 10 to 12 thousandths.

It sounds like the same brake system. Thanks for the info...Concerning the brake housings...sounds stupid but do the brake housings come off the tractor, how painful is it, and how many housings are there 2 or 4. If it is 4 I assume I might have to get all 4 machined?
