farmall 544 difference

what is the differene between a farmall 544 and an international 544 i know the international 544 is a utility the dealer asks if ours has international on the hood but no farmall on the 544 in the front mine has 38in rubber the dealer said they made 3 different ones what is the differnce thanks
 
My uncle has a Farmall 544 and it has INTERNATIONAL on the hood and FARMALL right above the 544 on the emblem. It is a row crop Farmall though.

Other than the engine, a International Farmall 544 and an International 544 utility are totally different tractors. The Farmall 544 basically uses a Farmall 656 drivetrain and the utility basically uses a modified International 606 drive train
 
Many of the IH tractors, maybe starting with the 300, were made in 3 different styles. Rowcrop, utility, and rowcrop utility. The rowcrop utility would have the rear axles of the farmall and tall wheels, swept back front axle with increased height, operators area of the standard utility. Of course there are other types, these are the ones I am familiar with.

I agree 100%. Here is a pic of the tractor my uncle owns at a show last year.

 
He could have a International 544 utility row-crop. Swept back axle with longer spindles, bar rear axle with 38 inch rear wheels, Wheels were painted red from the factory. A little extension under the rear fenders to give clearance for the rear fenders. These tractors were total different from the farmall version. The International version was more kin to a 504 and the Farmall was basically a 4 cylinder version of a 656. Eason
