Farmall 560 shift question

I see a 560 advertised as running/operating but the tractor can only shift into 3rd and 4th gear (and neutral). What would be the repair process for this?

I would pull the gear shift out and have a look in there and try shifting into each gear with a bar. And see if it actually goes into gears. Would be my first step.

I second that Rail, shifter or fork problem. But could be much worse.

Hitch pin shaft (Pin) fell out of shifter my shifter . One Plugs fell out. Something to check may or may not be your issue in this case .

Since you do not own the tractor yet, consider it a parts tractor, $750 plus the value of the tires and battery maximum. Any easy fixes have probably already been looked into so you should assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it is better than that.

I posted the thumbs up, not the HaHa. If it wasn't advertised as shifting into only 3rd and 4th along with running/operating, I'd consider running the opposite direction.

Why run ? Might be a piece of cake for the right guy . Lol. That’s the kind I like to buy and have a project to work on.

Well, I did say consider. If somebody says running/operating but doesn't mention something that obvious under inspection, what else that isn't obvious didn't get mentioned?
