i have a 560 gas which is getting water in the oil. i have removed the sheet metal and hoses . next loks like manifold needs off ; do i need to remove the gas tank to be able to take the head off? and what else need to b taken off ? this is my first project on a 560 THaNKS

no need to take the tank off. all i do is unbolt it from the top of bell housing and prop it up. only reason is to get push rods out. many times i just tape the push rods up to clear the block and do it that way. do what your comfortable with.

A couple pointers; if there's no issue with the manifold gaskets it may be easier to leave the manifolds on. Also sometimes when you pull the pushrods out it will pull the lifters out and then you have to take side cover off so it can be prevented by wiggling them until you feel them separate.

I have the gas tank loose and raised (over engine) 4 under tank is a shield over the motor it is factory spot welding in both sides at the back corners ,do i cut the welds loose with a small chisel my serial # 33916 thanks for all info replies
