Farmall 560

Ok guys, I sold one of my farmall Hs the other day and now im looking for a really good narrow front 560 diesel. My qyestions are, What was the symble on the serial number plate that tells weather the rearend had been updated? And what else should i be looking for on these tractors? I ve been around Farmalls and IH all my life but never a 560. Also if i am lucky enough to get a 560 i want to get a mounted IH 234 picker with a husting bed and a sheller. So my question here is what type of hitch should i be looking for on the tractor to work with the picker? should it be a fast hitch or a standard draw bar?

I believe that the symbol you are referring to is a delta. It is a Δ. Hopefully someone with more 560 experience can help you with your other questions.

I was going to say a triangle....not sure what a delta is...but looks like we are on the same page (lol).

It is, the triangle is on the plate means the rear end has been updated

The 1958 and early 59 models will have the stamp when updated. Models after that should have the good parts from the factory and didn't need updated.

i believe you want the standard hitch with the mounted picked judging the few i've seen that have lived under a picker for most of the tractors life

A 234 with sheller is plenty for the 560 first is the wt of the sheller and having enough power in 150 bu corn.

Fast hitch is the easiest to use. If you get a standard drawbar, it will require a 2-cylinder mounting assembly---according to the owners manual. We could pick corn all day on 1/2 tank of fuel with the husking bed. Different story with the sheller unit. It made the tractor work in 150 bu. corn unless the corn was down around 16-17% moisture. Of course Dad always wanted to get going when the corn was 20% or more.

If you find a 560 with the tele-depth valve and fast-hitch, I would use the rockshaft subframe for the picker. If you buy a 560 with an add on fast-hitch using the third valve, I would use the standard subframe with the two lift cylinders. It takes a little more time mounting the husking bed, but is worth it in the field. I have run both set ups with various subframes, and letting you know from experience.

I have a narrow front 560 needs some sheet metal it runs good it was a diesel I have two motors to put it back just not the time. It has a 263 gas in it now runs good just got done pulling bushes out with it a few weekends ago in between the rain storms. I would take 1800 for all of it.

the symbol should be * 560 is not big enough for a 234 and sheller.
