I have a C263 out of a 560.I removed the head to resleeve, and on top of the block by each cylinder there is a letter stamped. 1 3 4 5 6 are stamped with a C, and #2 is stamped with an A.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The factory used a select fit for sleeves A is the smallest size. B is the next larger and so on. There may be as much as .001" difference in the sleeve fit. Most kits have a compromise single size sleeve. Thus some will go in when frozen and the block is warmish with a light tap on a block of wood, this is perfect. Others may slip in with too little interference, and fail to make good contact, break at the flange and drop into the crank/rods. If too tight, the sleeve might not go in far enough to seat, and be very hard to take out. If yours is in that condition selecting the beat fit with the variability in the sleeves in the kit may work, but might not. A tight sleeve can be fixed by carefully straight honing the block to fit the sleeve (very little needs to be removed!!! If a little too loose, ( slides in too easily but just isn't block of wood seated) Locktite sleeve setting fluid (Blue tube) can be used to good effect. Way loose needs to be replaced with a larger sleeve so as to be like the correct fit. Good luck. Jim
