Farmall 656 Hydraulic Pump

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much play there should be on the hydraulic pump drive gear. I just replaced the piggyback pump and noticed the main pump drive gear seems to have a lot of play in it. Being a keyed shaft I would think it should be a tight fit. I haven't pulled it off yet to investigate, I was just wondering if this was normal.

ust pulled the gear-looks like I'll be replacing big pump and gear too

The pump gear has a 1/2" bolt that holds it to the shaft. There is a flat washer with a tapered ring behind it. The bolt must have worked loose. Take the cover off where you can see the clutch release brg. There is a big pipe plug on the front of the clutch housing. You will have to drain the trans. oil Remove the plug & tighten the bolt.
