farmall 706 over heating

My cousin has a farmall 706 when he uses the tractor it seems to over heat and boil the water in the radiator . He has had the radiator boiled out , new thermostat. I think he is going to check the water pump next . I know some people say it could be a blown head gasket but there is no sign of any antifreeze smoke or water in the oil.Tractor seems to run fine not running lean . Thanks for any Help . Scott

C 263, C291, D282 or D 310. Some D 282 they put a more aggressive fan blade on to handle the heat better. Is it original or has some one changed the engine to an 806 or combine engine, or even turned the pump up if diesel, maybe the radiator is too small. Radiator cap has been mentioned double check the easy stuff first. Gas engines were dry sleeved and the D 282 is also. The 310 or German engine is wet sleeved and we usually lost the O-rings first but anything is possible.

If it's aglow plug diesel it can most definitely be the
head gasket. Look for bubbles in the radiator after
starting. Sure sign

I agree. Had a 656 with the same 282 and it would do that. New thermostat didn't help. Put a new radiator cap on and all was well.

Get it good and warm, up to temp. then open the throttle all the way and watch the lower raidiator hose, if it collapses the spring inside is rusted away and that's causing the problem.
