Farmall A question?

I saw this picture of a nice A. Think it was a mid to later 40's model. What are the hoses for? Assume it's hydraulic supply?
I have a 39' without any of what this nice little tractor has. If you can crank it or roll it, it will start!

Back in the 1950s, power steering on some cars was powered by a pump on the back end of the generator. Generators were built with longer armature shafts for that purpose. This tractor has a home-made hydraulic system that uses one of those pumps.

Dad's '56 Chrysler Windsor had a genny
like that for the power steering. Thought
it had a double belt drive for it and the
air conditioner (add on) compressor.

(quoted from post at 04:49:58 02/24/23) Interesting. Wonder what is used for a reservoir. Would like to see other side of tractor.

The reservoir is part of the pump. The pressure and return lines go directly between the pump and the valve. For a little two-way cylinder it's fine.

Would be nice to see what is on the rear [plow--blade].
The hyd. cylinder must be on the other side.
That flat strap lift looks fairly substantial.
Can't see the hyd. controls either.

I just took another look. If you look closely, you can see a rod connected back from the control lever. He may have another control lever, maybe back on top of the transmission.
