On the Farmall A clutch the fingers how close should they be to the throw out berring?
Can they be adjusted in place or do I have to split the tractor.

You don't adjust the fingers based off the throwout bearing.

That's what the pedal free play adjustment is for.

What problem are you trying to adjust away?

The pedale travel is long tried to adjust and I am at the end of my adjusting rod.
When I looked at the throw out bering there is about a 1/2 inch between the clutch and fingers.
Is there some thing I am missing.

As long as you have 1 inch free pedal you are good to go. Now when you push the pedal all the way down and the clutch wont release you need some new parts whatever it mite be.

Clutch wear makes the clutch pedal play too short, not too long. I think you are turning the adjustment the wrong way. Adjusting the fingers won't do any good, as you are changing the pedal play at the same time.

Went both ways. Threaded the rod twords the back of the tractor and the clutch would not disingage reversed it came up on the end of the rod back to square one.
