New to me Farmall BN has been rewired by PO. one wire self eciting alternator.
From what I see it is wired corect, Has a mag and only kill switch to it.
Battery to starter + than to amp gauge. Aternator to amp gauge grounds are all good.
Had the alternator test and has good output. I even tryed a different gauge and a multi meter can't get a charging reading at the gauge? what up? Can some of you electric gurus help me out. I can't seem to get this thing right. oldiron29

Many of the one wire alternators need 2000RPM to self excite and that engine read lines way before that so yep best bet it to go with a 3 wire like what was used on a 1980 Chev pickup no power any thing no AC and cost of around $45 for one

I saw the guy test it he said it was at 800 RPM. With the small pulley on alternator I would think I am making that much RPM. I would rather have the 3 wire so I guess I will rewire it with lamp and switch. It does not have a 1 and 2 plug
it says N and F what is your take on that? oldiron29
