My farmall c has been shutting down after warming up. I've tested to see if it was a fuel or spark problem. It appears the governor is shutting the tractor down. Any help will be appreciated.

I would suspect a bad coil rather than thew governor since the coil is a temperature sensitive thing and the governor would not be. When it stops check the coil for temperature if you can't hold your hand on it I would start there or with the condenser.

the gov does not shut it down when it happens drain the carb tO see if it has gas if you have gas pull a wire and hook a plug to it grounding the plug try to start if you have fire

Suggestions
Fuel supply and magneto are still the most common sources of this issue.

As the engine rpm fall off from lack of fuel or ign the governor try to increase rpm.

Let’s work with what we know about the tractor
after it stalls is there any fuel in carburetor fuel bowl .remove the drain ,let’s us (you) know ? In comments.
Is the Magneto spark jumping a plug gap .
Examples of magneto components I had issues with . You need to narrow down the searc.

How long does it run before quitting. You say warm up, is this 1 minute or ten minutes? To isolate this type of issue I would remove the intake pipe from the carburetor, take an old type squirt oil can and fill with gas. Start the tractor and wait for it to begin stalling then squirt gas into the carburetor and if it picks up and will continue running while you squirt gas into the carb then you got a gas problem, if it doesn't then you have a spark issue. SAFETY first, do this outside in case of backfire from carb.

What you are seeing is the governor trying to keep the engine running. It's slamming the carburetor to wide open throttle in response to the drop in RPM when the tractor stalls.

You say you've tested it. What tests have you performed?

Does the tractor restart right away? If not, how long do you need to leave it sit before it will restart?
