I have a Farmall C with hydraulic's, but it doen't have the fast hitch, just the bar across the back. Can I place a fast hitch on that, is there an after market fast hitch that will go on it. I want to use it for plowing, harrowing, cultivating, etc. Any help much appreciated, thank you.
Bob

Yes you can install a fast hitch on you Farmall C. We have a C that the previous owner had install the fast hitch in place of the fixed drawbar.

The challenge is FINDING a complete fast hitch setup for the C, and all the implements.

You can't just walk into Walmart and load one in your shopping cart. It can take months if not years to find everything you need, in good shape, at a price you can stomach, within driving distance.

I found an ALMOST complete fast hitch locally through ebay, but it was dumb luck. In fact I almost missed out on bidding on it. A few minutes later, and I never would've known it was for sale.

Thing about that was it was an impulse buy. I wasn't looking for a Super C fast hitch. I had a Super C and decided it would be neat, and nobody had bid, and it was cheap enough.

If you want a fast hitch now, you've got to be willing to drive across the country to get it. Unless you luck out.

Unless someone had been around and used a SC or 200 with Fast Hitch, I don't believe they realize what is involved. Best bet might be to buy a "donor" Super C or 200. Many parts from the valve on back need to be changed or added... as shown in the pictures, even the seat base/toolbox. I'm not sure all the holes in a C are drilled and tapped that you will need.

I have a 3 point hitch from off my Super C, but it doesn't fit properly. It hits against the brake pedal so I have to leave it off. May be I don't have to have a 2 point fast hitch for plows, harrows, cultivators? Will I still be able to hook up these attachments? The most needed attachment would be a good cultivator. Thank you.

Are you talking about a row crop cultivator or a field cultivator?
Depending on soil conditions, a C should be able to handle a 2x12" or 2x14" plow, a 6 or 7' tandem disc, 4 section drag harrow and a 2 row cultivator.
Too bad Mom sold the farm, as there was at least one, maybe two 2 row cultivators left on the farm when she sold it. Might also have been a mounted plow for a C there, and a VERY good 2 row planter in the barn. There just was no market for them in the area any more. Dad always said the C mounted plow did a better job than a Fast Hitch plow he had earlier... I can't say for sure as I only used the Fast Hitch plow.

Hi IH Fan,
Wow, yes those are nice toys to have! Thank you
for the comments. Here is my situation. I am a
master gardener and my project is the community
garden. I have many insect problems, and the
garden must be cleaned, soil tilled to rid of the
insects. I have been cleaning as people don't
clean up after the season, and that is why we are
infested. I have a Troy bult tiller, a walk behind
Gravely with a rotary plow. It is just to much
time for one man, and I am trying to out fit my
Farmall C to do the work. The soil is sandy so
that is a plus for turning, but the weeds and that
tough grass are something else. I have to rake by
hand or pull it out by hand. So if there are any
suggestions as what to equip my Farmall to do
about 3-4 acre I would be much obliged. Thank you.

This is complete and is very solid,in Ct,he has everything

One of the problems you could have is you do need to get most of the old garden trash off the soil. Some plants like tomatoes will carry over diseases if you don't get the old ones off. Can't just plow them under. If you had a 3 point, a springtooth harrow might drag most of the stuff off, but you will need to clean the teeth off often and get rid of that trash.
I used to raise a big garden before the deer got so thick I couldn't keep them out. I had a field cultivator to drag some trash off, but a springtooth might be better. Then I worked the ground with the field cultivator to about 8 or 10" deep... didn't have a plow which might have been better.
The C plow that Dad had mounted up under the C and lifted with the Touch control, do not know the model #. However, if you have 3 or 4 acres of sandy soil, a 2x14' pull plow should work fine, and they are plentiful and usually cheap. Same for a 7' disk and if you do not have to "road" them away from the garden, pull implements are cheap. There is a 3 point made for the C, but I don't think it works well for anything except a rear blade or mower.

Hi IH Fan,
Yes, I realize the garden has to be clean before
turning the soil, for insects, and diseases. You
can't be careful enough. I take all the garden waste
and compost it, bring the pile up to approximately
150 degrees for a few weeks. That usually works,
though you are suppose to turn the pile frequently
to burn everything complete. I don't as the pile is
huge. Thank you for your comments.

I get "No matches found"

When you mentioned "... with hydraulics" on your C, am I right that you mean just the Touch Control and not an auxiliary valve like is used for the Fast Hitch on a Super C or 200?

(quoted from post at 08:56:11 11/14/13) Yes, thats correct. I will try and send a picture if
you think that would help? Thank you.
Bob

That's okay, Dad had both a Super with a Fast Hitch, which I ran from '56 thru '60, when I left for the service, and I don't know how many Cs he had. First one he bought new in '49 until '56, when he bought the SC. Then after he quit farming for a few years (sold the 100 acre farm and the buyer de-faulted on the land contract a few years later), he bought another C and maybe another later on, not sure, but Mom had one until she left the farm in the late '90s. I know how they are equipped and what they look like. I just wondered if you or someone had added an auxiliary valve to your C, which you need for the Fast Hitch.
I'd like to have a Super C today with the Fast Hitch and mounted equipment Dad had with it... plow, disk, sickle bar mower, carry-all, cultivator, corn planter. Instead, I have a 240U with 3 point, a loader and rear blade, which is better for what I need now.

Not sure what you mean by "lift bar". Is this something like a tool bar that is operated by the Touch Control arms?
[i:7222d22b29](corrected to say bar, not bat)[/i:7222d22b29]

I know what you mean by the garage being full. If ours had not been full in August, my wife's LS would not have been totaled in a baseball sized hail storm.
