farmall cub

I have a mid 70s cub runs great but it is the bigest pain to start seems like it starts on 2 cylinders and the other 2 30 seconds later and you have to hold your hand over the air cleaner some to keep it going and you cant move tractor for almost 5 minutes even 90 degrees out just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas I am thinking intake manifold gaskets

You're actually choking the engine when holding your hand over the air intake . Could be a leak around the intake manifold. You should see if it has much suction by holding your hand over the throat of the carburetor. You need good manifold vacuum to suck that fuel into the engine. You probbaly should do a compression test and compare the readings. Hal

Check for intake leaks , easy to do . with tractor running , spray starting fluid around intake manifold . If you have a leak RPMs will speed up. WD40 will do the same thing .
I would check for fuel flow .

well today I went and started it used no choke it did a lot better still had to hold my hand over carb for about 20 seconds then I could put the hose on and about 3 to 5 minutes I could move her but motor was rebuilt 2 years ago might have 30hrs on it but I know didnt replace the intake gaskets so one day when get some time I will do that
