Farmall deep clutch noise

Probally a stupid question - but - I have a Farmall Super C which runs and drives normal and has a smooth clutch but if you push it in (the clutch) to the limit it makes a horrible grating sound. I just can't visualize what it is hitting so please somebody tell me what it might be.

If the throwout bearing is worn short (carbon ring type), as the fingers push in all the way they hit the bearing retainer. Make sure the adjustment is OK, splitting might be needed. JimN
