farmall exhaust plug??

hi,i have a farmall a and the old exhaust had a square plug on it right above the carb,the new one i have dont,what is it?what does it do?thank you..

Might have been a hookup point for the old exhaust driven lift mechanism ?

i had the tractor running and then i pulled that plug,it died.

Sounds like it is on the intake side then.

I can't recall if the old lift mechanism was exhaust or vacuum driven ?

That plug is on the intake side, but I've never heard of anything it might have been intended for. Maybe as a emergency way of powering the old vacuum run milkers?

The old lifts on the A's and B's were exhaust driven.

It was a vacuum source so the dairy farmer could use the vacuum operated milking machine when the electricity went out.
Much better than milking by hand. BTDT

I can remember using the TO20 Fergie to run the milking machines when the power went out. Dad had replaced the plug with a petcock which you could attach the hose.
