Farmall H bolt identification help

[WSJ]

This bolt was found on the ground a few feet from my Farmall H.
I looked for an empty hole, but could not find where it came from.
It's 6.25" long, 7/16 14 thread, one standard washer and a smaller thin washer.
Please let me know where this bolt came from. Thank you!

Has it got the dot in the middle of the head, That was a IHC trademark back in the day! Later they used WP, for West Pullman

One of the two long belt pulley gear box mounting bolts. If gear box is still on look toward top.

I think rustred has it. To me it does not look like that tractor has been driven for a while. Are parts of it torn apart or were
they at some point? That bolt absolutely cannot pop out of its hole. In fact with the gas tank on I think you have to pull all
the bolts loose on the belt pulley and pull it out of place with the bolt still in the hole, same for reinstall. Maybe this only
applies to an M.

He cannot show you the belt pulley because it does not have one. OP why do you think that bolt is from your tractor? Did someone take the belt pulley off while it was setting near that area and install that plate with the hydraulics on it. Now you are just finding the bolt that was set aside some time ago? Tell us the WHOLE story.

Another possibility is the engine to clutch housing attachment bolts. Do not remember how long those are. I think the longest ones are the upper ones that the steering shaft bearing support and gauge mount plate are also attached with.

I even looked at mine and yes that is the bolt. So it must have just been
left there as used red said.

Yes, you solved the mystery of the ghost bolt! I removed the belt pully a long time ago and recently moved it to my bone pile. It was moved crossing in front of the H a month ago. I used my H a few days ago and found the ghost bolt a few feet in front of the H.

Thanks, now I can tell my doctor I'm not crazy yet!

Glad to help, anything to keep you away from a doctor or
psychiatrist bill!! Your 46 is a nice looking tractor! Here is a
story I probably should not tell but the gentleman is long
gone. In the late 80s the shop I worked at had this
customer that I had a 72 Chevelle and a 74 Nova. Both
were very nice cars. He was a former mechanic getting up
in years. I think he decided to put new rear brake shoes
shoes on the Chevelle. He got the shoes off but could not
remember how to put them back on. So he jacked up the
74 Nova to copy off of to put the Chevelle back together. In
the end he ended up with the wider drum off the 72 two-
door sport model on the 74 plain Jane 4 door Nova which
locked up the wheel. So we had tow both cars in and
straighten out the whole mess. Sometime later he was
going to ..fix.. the steering column on one of the cars.
Same thing got it apart couldnt figure out how to put it back
together so opened up the second car as a pattern.
Needless to say things went downhill from there. So on
here sometimes when a poster explains something that
seems a little off, I say to myself hummm.. wonder if? But
just as in your case quite often when the whole story is told
things start to make sense. Oh and after the second
episode the gentlemans wife made it clear that he would
not be working on their cars anymore. Happy tractoring!

It looks like the oil filter cover bolt it it has holes drilled through it.
