Farmall H missing

Thanks to this forum and those that commented when I inquired about my H acting like it was not getting gas when infact it was. A couple said probably condensor or coil and not getting the proper spark. Well you were right. New points and condensor and it is doing fine. Just a question. With H's and M's on 6 volt, is ignition the reason you can pull to start them or just as you let off the starter they seem to start? But if you keep grinding them over they seem like they will never start. Lack of ignition spark. This revelation just came to me from this experience. I am interested to hear others opinion.

I have noticed that also. As far as pull starting, you mean pulling with another tractor, or using the crank? That has no bearing on 6 or 12 volt I would think.

I never had much luck "grinding" on the starter. If I is getting gas, and you spin it a few rounds, then let off, lots of time it will fire just as you let off the starter.

You just have to hold your mouth right sometimes.

If you are having starting problems like having to pull start it with either the crank handle or another tractor, you have either dirty connections, weak battery, bad starter switch, too small gauge cables, or a starter that is pulling WAY too many amps ( field coils or armature shorted inside) and dropping the voltage down too low to fire the ignition coil. My 6v H starts VERY nice because I service it every spring and when it needs it. I have to, I use it everyday.
