Farmall H, New Experience Today

I was driving my Farmall H up a pretty steep, but short hill today. The gas in the fuel tank was so low the H ran out of gas going up the hill. The hill was a pretty steep one. I'm used to the H sipping gas, so I usually never think of running out of fuel, but today was a new experience for me.

We often carried a piece of yard stick. When it got to 2 inches deep. we refueled, or walked. Jim

That's what I like about our C, I went out to mow recently with 4 inches in the tank, was out for quite awhile. I was worried about running out so when I came in I checked it, still had 3 inches, it's really good on gas, but it's only 21 hp!

Be careful! If you are going up a hill that steep, the front end could climb up! Do not go in low - go in 3rd or 4th.

All of my Farmalls (8) come equipped with a Lowes, Home Depot of Sherwin Williams Gas gauge (large paint stick marked with indelible marker.

The only handy advice I can think of is carry a full 2 gal Chilton gas container between the right fender and platform with fender extention and bungy strap.
