Farmall H valves

I would first make sure the valves are free before turning it over, saves bent push rods.then set the clearance per spec.

remove he spark pugs and squirt some oil in the cylinders, at least 2 ounces. put plugs in and crank it over, that will lube it up. then start it. u could add some 2 cycle oil to the gas if it makes you feel better but not totally necessary throw a pint in a tank full..

Have H that hasn't ran in 10 years. Is there anything good I can put through the gas while running to restore the valves.
I'd start by pouring ATF down the exhaust till it leaks some place. That will help free up the exhaust valves. I would also put a quart of ATF in 3-5 gal of gas and run it on that

i am trying to figure out what u mean by pouring ATF down the exhaust pipe till it leaks someplace. o_O not all the valves will be open on this 4 cylinder engine ? which means 2 cylinders could be getting no oil, the same thing as when rain leaks into the exhaust,... and it will fill the other 2 cylinders with oil till it runs out the top of the exhaust pipe , right? now how much oil will that take ? fill up 2 cylinder's, fill up the manifold, then fill the exhaust pipe,... depends it might be a muffler , so visualizing all this in my head it could be 3 gallons of oil. i have a hard time to think someone would do this, as its a total waste of good expensive oil.

Change the oil and filter.
take valve cover off and shoot oil on valve stems , 30 w rockers
fresh fuel with 2 stroke oil 50 to one mix, or premix 50 to one. seafoam
shoot some 2 stroke oil into cylinders or 30 wt. 4or 5 skirts from oil can . Cranking it over to spread it around
remove spark plugs and prime oil system with starter turning it over . Watch valves to See if the are all moving the same .
What I would suggest , the more you do to prevent issues the better.

I would add this,, before putting anything good in the gas,, do this first.. Pull the valve cover,, make sure rockers are working a free valve?? Take out the spark-plugs, next do you have compression??? Then squirt oil onto the rocker arms, and the top valve stems,, Squirt oil into the spark plug holes.. If all is free and good,, treat some fresh gas with two-cycle oil.. Got spark? New spark plugs in, try to start?? It will run, but smoke a bit..

By restore I assume you mean unstick? Nothing you can dump in the fuel or oil is going to restore seats and valve faces that need recut. As for unsticking valves people go after problems like that in different ways but for my time and dollar I take the direct approach and take 5 minutes to remove the hood. Then take another 10 minutes to remove the valve cover. Then check the gasket, if it is ruined order a new one on-line. Next spray some type of penetrating oil around the springs and valve stems, I've never experienced any magic brand but others seem to think they exist. Then take a hammer and tap the top of the rockers (tap, not beat!) hard enough to move the valve down, if the springs brings them back up then all is good, if not try tapping the retainer sideways, keep spraying some penetrating oil while doing this. Tap side ways and down a bit. The further you tap it down the more spring pressure you have to pop it back up. Unless they are stuck hard they will eventually pop back up and you can then turn the engine over without damage. If you cannot tap them down or if they do not want to pop back up then you need to remove the head and fix the problem the correct way as no matter how long you leave it sit with all manner of magic juices applied it's going to remain stuck that's my experience.

Put some mystery oil in oil can and skirt 3 to five shots into all the cylinders to work into the rings before a start up to free up the rings to bring up the compression on one with stuck rings from sitting so long.
Then after it run do a leak down test on it that will tell you a lot .
Keep us posted on the project .
