I have an H that smokes real bad, the compression is 100 on three cylinders and 105 on the fourth. The park plugs where all wet when I took them out and the rain cap looks wet when runing. It seems to use some oil. What does it need, valve guides or rings or something else?

very first thing i would do is make sure points and timing is correct, adjust valves and carb adjusted then get a load on it and work it for a few hrs.at operating temp. this putsing around the yard with cold starts does them no good.sometime thats all it takes. is it oil on the plugs or fuel? then i would check compression and look how plugs are burning.even keep them in order and send a pic of them. if you decide on overhaul the head rebuilder will look after head work.

Go drive it for 30 min or so at 2/3 or more throttle to get it warmed up real good sitting around running is not good that engine was made to work Put it in 4th and go for a good drive. Your compression is good

I would try what Gean said first. On my H that had about to same compression and smoked real bad, 3 of the oil rings were not being pushed out to the cylnder wall. New set of ring and it is A OK again.

Do a tuneup, change oil. Warm up the engine by driving around. Then WORK THE SNOT OUT OF IT. Put it on a plow and plow as deep as you can. Maybe run some marvel in the oil.
