Farmall m low speed special

Would any of the farmall m pullers buy low speed 1st gear or
creeper gear for pulling if a set was for sale as a new remade
kit at a reasonable price? I am looking into what it may cost
for my tractor and maybe a kit later.

I'm sure they would, after all, the factory low sets bring top dollar on eBay.

While at it, can you make one for the H also? I know I would be interested.

I don't know exactly what you have in mind, but I am thinking that if you took the first gear off the bottom shaft and machined it down as small as possible while leaving enough meat in it for strength, then just made a complete new slider gear along with the reverser, would probably be the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to do it. Of course it won't be as low as the factory one, but on those the bottom gear is actually machined into the bottom shaft.

I am working on a m now and do not have a h tractor but a
low speed set can be made for a h just the same. I am
looking at making the factor low speed gears for my m test
them for my self to see if it works then make up a kit to sell to
others. What do low speed gears go for on eBay? Maybe I
can make a kit the same price or cheaper.

My kit is made by a pro that makes pulling parts for 2000HP smoker tractors so I think the parts will hold up to a hp of a built m. Sorry not going to talk about the place or person at this time.

Pigpen, I don't know what you're thinking for a price, but I'm guessing it would be just as cost effective to bump the HP. Once you have the HP, I wouldn't think you'd need the 'slower than first' gear.

my 2 cents.

Thank you jd b puller. I think a pulling tractor should have as many pulling options as possible. I can not make a stoker motor at this time so low gears is a good optoin of me. Just want to see if other m pullers would like low gears also.

Back when times were good, they sometimes touched $1500 for the whole transmission, recently, I've seen them go as little as $200 but seem to be ranging right around the $300-$500 area. It really depends upon how bad more than one person wants them at the time they come up available. Haven't seen any on there for quite some time though.
