FARMALL M MODEL #

Looking at old serial numbers lists, I think it works like this:

FBK is the letter prefix for Farmall M tractors.
FBK-M is the letter prefix for the motor in Farmall M tractors.

Similarly for Farmall MD
FDBK and FDBK-M

Best I can tell you is that the letters are just a designation picked to apply to the Farmall M models. The attached link takes you to the current CNHI online parts pages for the M. The link opens the serial number ..Introduction.. subsection of the ..General.. info that was in the front of the printed parts catalogs distributed to dealers. You have to click ..view diagram.. at the bottom so you can see the information there. It does say there is more of an explanation of the serial number ..option suffixes.. on page 399 on the printed manual. Like an X suffix on the serial number designates the high speed 1st and reverse gears option.

If thats on the tag, its not right. Model should be M, nothing else, the FBK in the serial number section. If thats on the engine FBKM indicates the the serial number of the engine.
