Farmall M & W6

My W-4 was switched to 12 volts long before I bought it. Works well, but the guy did an ugly job on the hood cut out for the alternator. After cleaning it up with the angle grinder it looks much better.

I have a 46 Farmall M and a 48 Super W6. Both have the 6 volt system and my WD6 has the 12 volt. Was there a time when the gas models used 12 volt?
Think in the lineup after the M non diesels, the 400 LP was the first 12 volt. SM LP used a 6-volt gear reduction starter, hard to find now.
