Im looking for opinions on this. I have a farmall m I rebuilt the engine 2 years ago and over the past month I tore it down to paint it, I didnt mess with timming but a new cap and i dint mess with carb. problem is I have it back together now and when I go to start it it acts like it wants to start but then dies like it starts and runs out of fuel and im getting spark to all plugs Thank you all in advance.

First thing I would check is to see if someone turned the fuel off at sediment bowl. Not saying you haven't but think most of us have been embarrassed by something that simple at one time or another. Next would be to see if you have good fuel flow at carb. sometimes something moves around in your fuel tank and plugs the outlet off. Third, when you put on the new cap did you make sure wires went back to the same spot they were in? firing order is marked on side of the block.

You need your plug wires in this firing order on the cap:
2-1
4-3 As the rotor rotates CW. Did you remove the distributor or Mag when painting? Disconnect the gas line at the carburetor and see if there's a full stream of gas from your tank. Use a clean container to catch the gas. If there's a full stream of gas to the carb hold your hand over the throat of the carb and have a helper make an attempt to start the engine. You need good suction to suck that atomized fuel into the combustion chamber. Low suction means low intake manifold vacuum. I would squirt engine oil into all the cylinders to see if that helps. Do a compression check and post the readings. Hal
