Farmall M

I just bought a 49 farmall M. I cannot find a date code on The
rear/transmission but the words "new pattern" are cast into it
can anyone tell me anything about this? It also has disc brakes
but they only have bp66990ar and al cast into them can
anyone help? Thanks a bunch

I don't know about your casting number,but your disc brakes are likely Ausco-Lambert. I have them on a 1950 M. Clean the rust off of them once in a while and they work well, although, not as well as the original band brakes.

New pattern shows up on the rear housings every now and then. If the brakes have adjusters like the band brake M and 3 bolts to retain the brake covers they are add on disc brakes. Picture can be found in the late parts book printings or on the on line parts site.
