Farmall MD head question.

I have been in the process of restoring a 1951 Farmall MD. As is common the heads are notorious for cracking. The one I have has been repaired several times with the last repair having it leak even before I got a chance to start it. Unfortunately, that repair shop is out of business, so I have no recourse.

Our MD has the 4" bore and I am looking to find a replacement head for P/N 260 869 R1 which is proving very hard. I have been told that a Farmall Super MD head # 277 098 R1 will also work with head gasket 119 166 A1. Can anybody positively confirm this? Will all the water ports line up correctly?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Repair of the head is possible if the crack is able to be accessed. Shipping the head across wide territory can create additional cost. Failed repairs are difficult in that inferior work may need to be removed. This site has many yards with Farmalls, call and ask. Jim
