Farmall Regular Name Origin

Looked on Internet, but couldn't find why the first Farmalls were called Regulars. Anyone know?

It was jus ta regular Farmall, not a F-20, etc.

Pretty sure it's not an "official" designation. The original tractor was called "Farmall," period.

My understanding is, the original Farmalls got nicknamed "Regular" after the F20 and other tractors in that series came out, and there was more than one "Farmall."

When it came out, it was the only Farmall so it was just called "Farmall". Then they came out with the F-30, which was larger and sometimes called the large Farmall. The original needed a unique name which became "Regular".

The Regular came out in 1924 as the first row crop tractor offered, as opposed to the Standard non adjustable tread width McCormick Deering 10-20 or 15-30. It was by itself until the smaller F12 came out in 1932 at which time the Regular turned into the F20. That probably does not explain the Regular name, maybe some one knows the reason.

I didn't realize until now that the F-30 came out before the F-20. The serial number registry on this site says it came out in 1931 and the F-20 came out in 1932.
