Farmall Starter and Timing Marks

First thanks for the valuable information contained in the archives.

I have a 47B soon to be a BN.

First question is on starters. I have just acquirred another starter and instead of using a pull rod to engage the starter it uses a PUSH Rod. Does anyone have photos of this type of starter installed so I can see the rod, its mounting brackets? Looks like I will be fabricating something and would like an idea what it is supped to look like and where its supposed to go.

Second: My flywheel does NOT have a mark like the manual indicates for TDC. Whne i turn the cran to TDC on #1 and look up through the bell housing from the bottom all I see are 3 circular dots spaced an inch or inch and half apart. Are these the timing marks? And if so when I set the timing for my mag which dot do I time to? And is there supposed to be an index mark on the bell housing for a reference as well?

I know more than two questions but any help is appreciated.

First, I know little about the B. If you pull up "Tune-Up Specs" in the Research & Info column on the left of the page it may help. Following the link, my conclusion is that timing is set 1-4 degrees from TDC. Maybe you could temporarily mark this area with paint and time it. How you time it I do not know, it might be static timing or may be done with a timing light. If you do not have a manual that tells how to do this, you should get one. People on this forum bend over backwards to help others but are not very patient with those who do not access a manual. After a while we come to understand why. The manual answers questions we normally would not think to ask. My other suggestion is that posting on the "Farmall IH" page might be a better place to get what you want. You asked very courteously for help, welcome aboard and keep the questions coming.

Thank you for the reply. I do have the manual and I even have the tractor running, The only thing that has not happened is getting the impul;se to click as I do the final fine timing adjustment as the manual implies. I will keep trying, and again thank you
