Farmall super A starting problem

Did it actually start and keep running or just fire for a couple seconds? I would want to give it a couple shots to keep it running for say 5 to 10 seconds. That should not get anything too hot and maybe even let you see the oil pressure start to climb.
If you read his opening post, he actually claims he has ran it long enough at one point to warm it up and retorque the head. I would think if he has oil pressure concerns he would have been checking and noticed it then.
Not sure what was involved with his “cleaning the fuel system” must have been something behind the baffle he didn’t get cleared out. If something died in it mouse or rat etc. in my experience most often the tank has rust holes in it. He must have been lucky.

Hate to leave anyone hanging - I put a shot down the air breather as I already had the carb back on but it started up. There is no fuel in it to mix with the starting fluid. Didn't try anything fancy with the starting fluid as I don't have any water in my leaky radiator. Looks like we have the answer - bad fuel. I've bought tractors with bad fuel and a messed up tank because of it but never one that happened sitting my yard.
Thank you! I call that good news. We pressure wash gas tanks with hot water and dawn dish soap. Keep at it until the water runs out clean. Then blow dry. Sediment bowl with a new screen and an added little bit of insurance.... this stand screen in the sediment bowl. Works fabulous!! Sorry for the competition's picture.🧐

Last time it ran, I drove around to see if anything sounded wrong in the tranny and to see how my new clutch worked and checked timing. Ran about 10 minutes. Concerning the tank, I haven't seen any leaks in it. I have to get lucky on something I guess. Not much rust in it.

I just had the whole thing apart and everything was stuck. Got it all freed up and back together but the connection to the carb doesn't move much. It is hitting my alternator belt so before I take anything apart I've got to realign that.
they don't usually move a ton on the governor end.
