Farmall Super A sticking gearshift

When I shift into 2nd gear tractor runs OK but when I try to shift out of 2nd gear, shifter does not want to move and I have to hit shifter with a bar to get it out of gear. What may be wrong? Thanks

A worn shifter tip could be hanging up in the shift rail slot. The rail could be extending too far from a defective detent ball/spring, or there is a rusted up shift rail. tell us some more history of this. Describe the shifting effort into 2nd and the other gears. Jim

Just started this spring, At first it wasn't too bad but steadily got worse. Shifting into and out of the other gears is OK

Remove the cover, should be visibly as to what is going on. Compare shift rail to to the other, maybe the detent is froze
