Farmall706 brakes

Having trouble with the adjustment on my 706. Was having trouble with the brakes dragging so took it all apart and cleaned it all
up. After putting it back together it is still wanting to drag. What I am seeing is the self adjuster tighten up every time I step
on the brake. What I am seeing is the adjuster screw adjusts out so far that the return springs can't push the piston back to where
it will give me the free play to keep it from dragging. What is making the adjusters react in this manner. I have taken the brake
apart probably 15 times today trying to figure this out.

Trying to remember what I have done to correct that. It is caused by wear at the point where the adjuster contacts the housing. I'm thinking I had to grind surface where the head of adjuster comes back to rest against because that end does not wear. Not sure though.

At any rate , you need at least .025 clearance on discs when pedal and pressure fully released. Make sure you don't have pressure still being applied by opening bleed valve.

Check that the valves at the pedals are not still letting oil pressure flow to the pistons and hold them on just a bit. Also are the splines for the disc's worn so they can't release from the housing when the pedal is released?

Sometimes you will have the brakes stick opn a bit due to the headed pins on the brake linkage being frozen or to tight from rust and dirt at the pedals also if the platfrom is pushed tofar ahead holding the brake pedals open just a whisker , . Like Pete said crack the brake bleeders and see if you have flow coming out with the engine running , you will have some SEEPAGE but not a pressure flow. Make sure your splines are clean and the disc's slide freely , make sure your brake pistons are not cocked . Make sure your return springs are not binding on there posts due to rust and crud build up .
