Got over all the ground we could today for planting. The Bulk fertilizer truck was a noshow, this afternoon, but we will be OK if he makes it in the morning, Suppose to rain tomarrow evening.
Had a little time to bring down some "really good soil for my garden boxes. This is the remains of shi## piles from years past. I top dress all the boxes each spring about 2-3" with this composted material.
The wife and I have produced most all of our veggie intake for the past 20 yrs. from these boxes. Everything from Asparagus, to V7.5 juice, to strawberries. Lots of canning, pickling, and freezing in late summer.
Speeking of rock; someone mentioned that a friend of his in KY. had a farm with so many rocks that he built a wall around it and had enough for a floor! Here we just chip out the floor to make the walls. This is a 22A field running E to W with big cracks running N to S in the floor, which is covered with no more than 12" of Honeoy silt loam soil, that we are blessed with, in this reigon of central NY.

Loren,I like the setup of your garden. The Mrs. and I are trying to setup box type gardening. Between the deer and bunnies and family we have had good production. How about a trade?? 3 year old sheep poop for some cow poop!! I will deliver hee hee. We live in hard brown clay. The only problem I got is "working up" the boxes with my 630! is that a 770 I see by the garden? God Bless P.S. Love the pic's of the farms by you.
