Farmyard finds

This past Monday, I spent the morning at a farmyard to look at a lift for my 2N. The guy had a number of other implements and parts he would like to sell & I told him some of them might have some value to the folks on this forum. Over the next few days, I will post the items I found and took photos of to see if anyone is interested. All of this stuff is located in Longmont, Colorado, so if you are interested and out of the area, the shipping could be pretty rough. I will try to answer questions that might come up, but the guy is 75 miles from me & I have no interest in making anything on any of this stuff & I’m not affiliated with him either. He went in for surgery Tuesday, so he may not be available for awhile either.

Here is a set of steel wheel lugs that would fit an “N”. The owner said he was told they were worth $400 each. I have no idea if they are or not, but there were in pretty good shape.

I have the same set gathering rust here, I would say about $300-$400 best for the pair. I have had offers but if they would have been that high they would have been long gone! They are helper paddles, (Ferguson/Sherman?) using spacers they bolt right beside the tire using the disc to rim bolt holes. Idea is that they dig in and start to churn when the tires spin and sink down to where the paddles work, and they do work!

Nice find!
It's got to be fun digging around and finding all that delectable stuff.
It seems I've seen pictures of those wheels mounted on an N. They had them mounted on the outside of the rubber tires for added traction.
Maybe someone will correct me if I say they are Not the wartime steel wheels that would have come on an N.
By the way, get yourself a free photobucket account. Much as I love YT they leave much to be desired as a picture host.

I could use a pair of those.........

She sunk down and you tried to drive her out didn't you !?!

Should have stopped while you were ahead !

I did the same exact thing myself !

Dad called me one afternoon to tell me he had gotten my 2N stuck near the spring and needed me to pull it out.

Well I got there first and found the tractor sunk to the belly.Dummy me sees that the tires are clean so obviously he has not tried to drive it out so I try and just load the tires with mud like yours in about a second.Well Dad shows up in a few minutes and laughs and says " you tried to drive it out didn't you ".He told me then and there that if it sinks to the belly you are best off to just stop in your tracks and get something to pull you out.

I have not forgotten that,

Scott,
Well look at it this way, your not comletly stuck. I see in the picture you got one lug still clean. Nice tractor and the mud only complements it! Thanks for posting us a picture.

Mark.....

VT that is exactly the conditions they were intended for. They work well in our loose FL sand too!
