CAn anyone tell me what models of loaders will fit on a 706? I recently bought a 706 and would like to find a loader for it. Also how would one go about mounting it on the tractor...
Thanks

The "period correct" loader for that tractor would be an International 2000 loader, though many other makes and models also fit.

In fact you can still buy a brand new Westendorf loader to fit the tractor.

How they mount depends on the loader. The 2000 loader is a bit of a chore to mount, especially if you have a wide front end. It has a big heavy frame that bolts to the tractor at the front bolster and at the rear axles.

Newer loaders are "quick attach" meaning there are some small brackets that bolt to the frame, and the loader lifts itself on to the tractor.

If you buy a used loader make sure it came off of a 706 or another similar tractor like another 06 or 56 series. Otherwise you will be stuck figuring out how to adapt it.

Personal preference but I would also try and get a loader whose rear mounts extend clear back to the axles. These put ALOT less stress on the tractors frame/mid section. Not sure on IH manuals but I know in a couple of my dads' Deere manuals they do not recommend any kind of loader that does not mount to the rear axles.

I have a 706 and it has a DUAL loader on it. Its the first dual loader I have ever ran but I like it a lot on this tractor. It will lift a lot higher than westendorfs I have used in the past. They are a little harder to find seal kits for but its not to bad. I have 3 sets of wheel weights on it and it will pickup a 3/4 ton extended cab truck with ease. I know its hard on the tractor but that is what I bought it for. Those loaders are reasonably priced and very easy to put on. Hope this helps. Mic
