Faucet Handle Puller

I am looking for a tool or method to remove a vertical faucet handle to replace leaking stem assembly. The stem and handle are splined. The set screw that engages the stem has been removed. There is no center screw on the handle. Any suggestions appreciated.

Light pressure on one side then tap/pry on e other side. Might have to turn 90 degrees a couple of times. When reassemble use anti seize.

I would cut me two wood wedges out of a 2x4 on the table saw.
Then drive them between the underside of the handle and that first cylinder, opposite directions each side of stem.

better yet, cut the wedges wide with a slot in the center to straddle the handle stem.
Place wedges opposite each other so that they can be pushed into each other.
Use a big C-Clamp to push the towards each other.

But do you have the parts to fix it once apart?
Or are you hoping to find parts after apart?

As taking it apart might be futile.

Do you know for certain that the stem and handle are splined ?

I had to repair a similar set years ago and found that they were threaded together . The set screw held it into position by crushing the threads down under it .

Otherwise the outer stem cover may also be threaded onto the valve body . Carefully unscrewing this will raise it under the tap handle and press it off vertically . A rubber strap wrench might help with that .

The brand of the faucet is Graff. Their website does not feature this particular faucet. I concluded it was a spline coupling based on other faucets I have disassembled.

As others stated. It must be prayed off in order to get to the screw that holds the cartridge.

Just wanted to add.. May try a small amount of penetrating oil in the threads for the set screw.

Got a slide hammer? Make a sling out of some non-marring material like twine or rope, hook the slide hammer in, and GENTLY tap-tap-tap. Feel it out. You're not trying to pull a dent here.

I've seen a similar faucet where the trim ring under the handle is threaded. Unscrew the trim ring (or whatever t's called) & the handle comes off with it. Under that is a cartridge with a splined stem that the handle fits over when re-assembled.
