FB-A grain drill

I have searched the archives here and can't find the answer. My FBA seed chart doesn't show the setting for fescue. I'm going to sow clover through the grass seeder, and want to put fescue through the grain feed @ about 15 lbs per acre. I've been using the drill for many years but have never tried it with fescue. It's always been wheat or oats. Does anyone have some guidance on fescue settings to get a starting point?

My "FB-B" says for "Alta Fescue": 9 pounds per acre would be 14 Notches on the Grass Seed Index.
11 pounds per acre is 16 Notches on the Grass Seed Index.
That is the only two choices given. I hope this helps.

I bought one of these scales because I often plant all kinds of grass mixes and other seeds that are not on the seed charts it takes all the guess work out of planting and drill calibration

Is this for the main seed box or the auxiliary grass seed box?

Thanks for the suggestion. It's probably too late to get one before I need to sow this spring. But it will be nice to have for future calibration.

Why would you put grass seed through the grain box?

Most grass seed Is to big to go through the alfalfa seed box . I even drill alfalfa through the grain box I can turn it down as low as 8 pounds on up as high as you want then you can drill 25 acres on a drill full instead of about 10

Yes I was planning on putting clover through the grass box and fescue through the grain box.

I have never ran fescue through the big box just wheat barley safflower pasture blends of all kinds ,alfalfa, Sanfoin triticale. Settings very because of a lot of factors including drill opener spacing the drive gear settings on the main drive my drills have two speed drives and seed cup setting all play into seeding rate of a drill . That?s what makes the tool I posted such a handy tool because you just select your spacing on the chart measure the distance it tells you to drive weigh the seed and your done you might have to play with the drill settings some but it?s a lot more accurate than even the factory chart because it measures the actual output of the drill where as the charts are based on seed of an average weight and size so If your seed isn?t the same weight as what the engineer used When making the chart your rates won?t match up with what the chart on the drill says anyway
