February rainfall

Well, I can't say we're off to a great start. For February we fell short.....again. last year was dry and this February I saw only 61.26% of the historic record. I started tracking last year so compared to that for my specific location is only 50.53%.

This puts me at 51.5% YTD. On the pause side I did get 4" of snow/ice. That puts me on average for frozen precipitation.

Is the frost out of the ground there yet? As long as the ground is frozen most winter snow and rain simply runs off into the rivers instead of soaking into the soil.

Here in southern MN Monday is the deadline to pull ice fishing houses off the lakes while tow vehicles can still drive on the ice. The lake ice and frost are still well over a foot thick.
