Fed Law Enforcement

I must add the five Federal land management agencies the have their own Law Enforcement officers because I deal with them in the west. WE have the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau Indian Affairs, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and the US Park Service. The USFS have Law Enforcement officers who will nab you for traffic violations when you are in the forest. The BLM have their LE section who enforce their laws on BLM land. The BIA have their LE section who enforce their laws on reservation land. The USFWS have an LE section who enforce federal game fish law on Refuge land. The US Park Service who will enforce laws on all National Parks, Recreation Areas, and National Monuments. They all carry guns and write tickets.

There is a huge overlap of law enforcement in the west as some of the federal lands run together and they also share boundaries with state and local jurisdictions. I recently saw a BLM LE officer using a radar gun on a state highway through BLM land. The Indian police work traffic daily on state highways through reservations in my area.

My original post was intended to be an addition to the post titled OT - Police. Somehow it got its own heading. My mistake for replying while in modern view.

But now that you brought it up, Most of us out here are law abiding taxpaying citizens of the US and we don't make it a habit of breaking laws, traffic or otherwise.

But I certainly have concern for the cost to us taxpayers for this noticeable overlap of law enforcement. And, I don't feel good about seeing my income from January through April go to pay for federal government services that seem to grow at an alarming rate.

Thank you for your apparent tongue-in-cheek response to my intended informational post.

IN tennessee, North Carolina ,Kentucky and who know where else there is also the TVA police with federal marshall powers and can ticket you on state and federal hiways. Jack

Yes you are right but if you have ever been out in those woods where no one else goes you will find all kinds of scary people growing all kinds of illegal stuff and its all they can do to keep up with these characters.

Personally I wish we had more I like to go into the woods and know that I will be coming home alive.

We had state and federal trappers who carried firearms, but I don't know if they had any law enforcement powers. Mom's father and brother had close to 40 sections of BLM ranchland and I never saw a BLM law enforcement guy. Sometimes some dude from the BLM town office would come out to check on the antelope herd.
