Feed scale

I think this qualifies as a tool. States that its a1000lb Fairbanks scale. My question is shouldn't it have more weight than what is shown ? If so, can they be found separately ?

Might be missin a couple. It is missin the weight holder. There should be a vertical rod hangin on the end of the beam with a plate on the bottom. Mines across the road and it's too hot to go look. LOL.

it looks to me like the the outer end of the beam with the U shaped clevis is missing the rod that hangs on it with a disc on the bottom to put weights on. Ive made weights up when I was working in the machine shop there is a ratio (40 to 1) if I remember right.

AS others have said. it is missing the weight holder. The weights are to be placed on the holder and not on the horizontal arm. Picture attached showing the weights in the wrong place and the weight holder missing.

As has been said the holder is missing the hooked to the clevis on the end of the balance beam. The holder has a little pot that screws on the bottom that you add weight (pebbles, sand or what ever to calibrate the scale. My brother has our family scale otherwise Id post some pictures of a complete scale. I think there are 6 weights in the collection of various sizes. If I remember right one 50, one 100, and four 200s. That with the beam weight (50) make it a 1000 lbs scale.

you can still buy these new. we used them before electronic scales when we set up stock car chassis!

And most of them were used to weight feed bags filled so a 100-200 was good. More needed a hoist/lift of some kind to load and remove.

some had a u-shaped bracket on the main support where you stored the weights not in use... just a piece of 1/4 x 1" flat bar bent and bolted and the weights just sat on it with the slot over the bar
