Ferguson 30 Tractor

I just purchased a 1952 Ferguson Tractor. I need to know if the SAE 30 oil I use needs to be detergent or non-detergent.

Use detergent oil. It's OK to use multivis, 10W30 or 10W40.

Some people think that if the tractor was using a non-detergent oil continue that, if had a detergent oil use that, choice of oil depends on a lot of factors, such as what was the oil used since the last overhaul. If you use a detergent oil in an engine that only had non-detergent oil the oil passages could get plugging as part of the flushing out process from the detergents. Try to find out from owner what was used.
