Ferguson TED40??

I always assumed the double TED20 tractor was someone's home built Frankenstein's Monster.

However I found a number of internet references to the dual/twin Ferguson tractor as a "TED40". It is not in any of my Ferguson books so I assume it was not produced by any Harry Ferguson company.

Anyone, any idea who built the "TED40" and how many were built?

I found the Agriline UK site, great range of detailed models, including the TEA20:

And Sir Douglas Mawson's Antarctic tractor:

Good question.....I believe in Montana, {wheat country} a fell designed a hitch for several different tractors to work the rolling hills. these are predecessors of big bud. this is where the the articulating tractor originated. the need for a machine to handle the hill.S , I forget his name, but this man made hitches to connect two tractors, he did JDs MFs you name he did it. Great story google it, well worth looking into if your a tractor guy

Hi Charles. That one is in Victoria I see. There is a high density of Fergy's in Victoria probably due to Harry Ferguson setting up his company in Melbourne and a very successful marketing campaign to the Victorian small holder farmers.

But the origin of the "TED40" appears to be the UK and I assume it is a pair of TED20s.

Incidentally, I emailed the supplier of the Tractormeter kits but haven't received a supply. I want to buy the complete kit.

P.S. In the early 2000s were you at USQ, Toowoomba?

Certainly not a Ferguson product! Quite a rare conversion I believe, even rarer than say, The Doe Triple D. I am sure most of them are 'modern' conversions of much older Ferguson tractors.
Two Fergies

That YouTube clip is of a different "double Fergy" - note the gear lever extension above the second tractor.

I suspect the "TED40" may have been a UK conversion and there may have been a few made as the "TED40" seems to have turned up in a few different countries. There is certainly a few here in Australia and also a number in the UK.

I'll ask John (UK) - if anyone knows, he will!
