Fierstone SAT 23 Degree

I am replacing the tires on my tractor and i have been impressed with the Firestone Super All Traction 23 degree tires that i have seen at tractor pulls. I was thinking of putting 18.4 x 34" on my John Deere 830. There are a SAT R1 23 degree and a SAT II. What one is the better tire. Thanks, Scott

The lugs on the SATII look too thin and no enough of them in my opinion. I know of one guy that has a set on his Oliver 880. He does ok, but he was dissapointed they didn't do as well as the Firestone ATFR.

I would only get the Super All Traction 23*, not the II's,they are the economy version of the 23's, you'll be alot happier with the 23*. I've had both.

My dad ran a set SAT IIs on his CASE DC, and it did very well with them. They were 15.5 x 38s on 16 inch rims in classes 5500 to 6500 lbs. Saying all that, i think the SAT would be a better tire than the IIs due to the lug size, especially on the bigger tires and heavier weight classes. Just my opinion.

Dont go with the Sat II's on a 830 they are a weak tire and if you go do any plowing or heavy work with it they wont last long. My dealer in town wont even sell them unless you specifically order them.

I have sold many tires to pullers and they all seem to like the 151 Firestones or a certain BFG with road worn sharp edge about 25% or less.I have helped with a few local pulls and have yet to see a set of brand new tires do as well as what I would call worn out tires.A real power track needs tire surface more than deep lugs.

Sorry I didnt realize you wanted werent going to pull them.Fireston 23deg are always my first choice for a collector tractor and they look right .The SAT II are a cheaper version and when they set for a period of time they seem to take a set and take a while to even out.I like radials if not too spendy and also Titan makes nice tires.Personaaly I dont like long bar short bar.
