I am currently rebuilding a 1957 JD 420 C final drive, I got a new bearing kit and was wondering if I have to pack the bearing with grease, or if the the oil in the bottom of the final is supposed to work its way up there? If they need greased is there a specific grease I should use? Also the hydraulic system calls for 5W-20 motor oil or SAE 10W, can I use regular hydraulic fluid and again is there a specific grade I should use?
