Finally back to work on the G.

Got the engine and carb rebuilt and installed. Re-working all the electrics with all new components and wiring. Cleaned and greased the steering box. Trying to free up the kingpins, very stiff and doesn't want to come out. They will turn but very stiff. got one to move a little, soaking in Kroil.

Do yourself a favor and after you get both sides apart, drill and install grease fittings in the top and bottom bushings, a little shot of grease once a year of so will make steering so much easier

Thanks, but that was already on my list of to-do's. If I have much trouble getting it to come out I will drill the tube with the pin inside it, tap and grease it anyway. A little dimple from the drill bit won't hurt anything.

Should work just fine. The dimple will not hurt a shaft of that size and at least you can get some grease in there. I may put one inch or so down from top another inch or so up from bottom. Mine is really stiff.

There are brass bushings it the top and bottom of the tube. One fitting in the middle will grease both bushing and hold a reserve of grease inside.
