Fine Tuning JD3300

I'm trying to clean up my sample on my 3300 in wheat. I increased the air and tightened down the chaffer to deal with the weeds. I am still getting what I think are the hulls. I will attach a picture shortly

combine settings as follows:
cyl speed 1100
concave is on 1
air is maxed out

moisture is still too high (around 20%) for me to combine the whole crop could that be why the hulls are getting through?

That is likely your problem. Why do you want to cut it that wet? You will get a severe moisture dock on it when you sell it and it won't keep anywhere as wheat is very hard to put air through. Better wait a little while until the moisture comes down. The wheat isn't ready to cut yet. Mike

It will do a lot better job at 14% than it will at 20. Even with fan at max if sieves are too far open you will get chaff. Are the hulls thrashed or still have grain in them? How fast are you going? Can you keep cylinder full? It will thrash better if you can keep cyl full. It all has an impact. Good luck.

I don't want to cut it that wet. I just cut enough to get a sample into the moisture meter and to test out my belt, chain, fan sheave and other winter repairs.

Yep...moisture weight is everything when trying to blow the "crud" out of the back in wheat or beans. Be patient, try to catch a hot, sunny, breezy afternoon to combine the wheat. You will be amazed at the difference. It's a tough year for wheat conditions with all this rain, make sure it doesn't get too ripe and sprout in the head. In good drying weather expect about 1% moisture drop per day. If no more rain you should be able to run your wheat this weekend.
