Finished the 340

Got the 340 I have been asking questions
about finished. I will have to admit it
really runs very good. Tach works and
shows 1248 hours. Don't know if that is
correct, but tractor shows very little
wear so it could be. Tractor sat in a
shed for several years after owner
passed away.

A question I have is about the front
end. It has a Norden wide front, which
is actually very tight andshows little
wear, but for my intended use I think I
want to change it out for a narrow
front. Can anyone tell me what tractors
would interchange? Possibly a 460? I'm
pretty new to the Farmall tractors.
Thanks in advance - Bob

8624DC is the number. A - C and Super models will work. You probably want center bolt circle hubs and rims because that is what came on a 340, not the rim loop mount type with the hubs with bent oval holes like an H etc.

I had a 340 U, it had guts but i wanted it for mowing with a woods style mower, it just wasn't mower friendly to my way of thinking!! wished i could find a Farmall like yours !

Thanks used red....just to be clear as I am not very familiar with IHC, but you are refering to the A, B, or C models, but does Super refer to an H as well. What about the 504 and such models? I would think the C's and such mostly had narrow fronts, but as you alluded to the would have the cast center style wheel so would need hubs too? Sorry for all the questions, but here in wheat country there weren't alot of small tractors around. I'm just not familiar with them. Thanks

Sorry driving all day. Roger sort of covered it I also meant Super A, Super B, Super C as well. Apparently the hubs and bearings you have would go on the narrow ..pedestal..

Thanks to all for your help. I'll start the looking process. Merry Christmas to all - Bob
Bob, congrats on the 340! I wish I had it, BUT as I recall you have some REAL (draft) horsepower, is that correct? I have a pair of black Perchs that I enjoy. I have several Farmalls including 1926 10-20, 1939 H, and then 300, 450, 504, etc. Enjoy your 340.

Thanks Kelly - I will have fun with this tractor. The draft horses are loafing in the barn now. We are getting much needed rain and snow here in Central Ks. I remember your Blacks in past posts.
