five star neutral

got my five star up and running now and was using it on the feed mill yesterday and noticed going from first gear to neutral I have to pull about as hard as I can to get it out of gear and into neutral, usually id pull past and get it into 5th which is just as much of a fight to get out of gear, is there something I can do to make it move smoother?

it does have ampli torque, when I pull it into low the rear end gets very noisy, not sure if its supposed to be that way or not
shouldn't be noisy in low range if it's not noisy in high range, but shifting to low should make it easier to shift the 5 gears, sounds like it has a problem in the torque tho. Someone more knowlegable than me needs to offer advice on that. I'd go to low range to shift it but back to high before letting the clutch out

I agree with John. If you have the clutch pedal pushed in it shouldn't make any noise in low range. If you are driving and place it in low range and it makes noise, that is the sprag in the ampli-torque.

how hard is it to find parts for the sprag? it only makes noise when moving in low

The sprag itself is a complete unit . Just did a G1000 and to rebuild the ampli-torc required the sprag and two bearings. One bearing on each side the sprag. Try welters farm supply. That's where I got mine. They have somebody making the sprag itself again. Be prepared. That ampli-torc was 1600 in parts alone. Didn't count oil or time. That was just the sprag, two bearings and the seals. Welters phone number...417 498 6496

if I just drive it in high will the sprag affect anything? only reason I bought this tractor was for pulling

No it was not. Where could a body find a NOS or even a good used one?? Welters told me that who ever is making them changed the dimensions got a little and they will work with a worn hub. The new sprag doesn't have the little wear strip that wears the hub. it's back together and shifts correctly so we shall see.

Have several used torques setups but no real way of testing. Measuring hub for wear is only method. A lot of time involved if used is bad. From tractors where motors went.
